My Rotaract trip – Racuok Blog

Posting display: 5

When I stepped into university life, I was just a curious girl who tried to find out where I was. Like many people, I am exploring various clubs and the community, hoping to find a place that is in harmony with me. Among them, Rotaract caught my attention – something about it was strong, aimed, and excited.

But, fun facts? I did not enter the first round.

But that didn’t disappoint me. I made it into the second round and joined as a general member, not knowing one thing about the way, the role of the project, or club structure. I only have my desire – and that passion is writing.

Soon after, I applied for a project called Click 2.0, a cinematography and short film competition. I still remember the excitement chosen as the coordinator of my first role external relationship in Rotaract. Thank you very much to Senara AKKI for identifying my skills and talents. That’s the spark that light the fire inside me.

Over time, I work as a homework agent, learn how to manage time, responsibility, and people. With every past experience, I build a stronger connection in the club and find more than me. Giveen Aiya and Sekwandi AKKI were my leaders and mentors at that time.

The true turning point on my journey came when I was appointed as the team leader in the editorial of Avenue. From writing articles and information to compiling letters and managing homework, I find excitement in every word. That is the way I give back to the club.

One of the most proud moments of me is to lead the team in the Rota 4.0 competition, which focuses on 12 sustainable development objectives. My team chose waste management as our topic, and I initiated the Harawuma – waste project to WOW. Here, my biggest motivational supporting arm is Dinithi Akki, my mentor. I learned a lot from him, especially heee … and of course, my talented team how can I start mentioning each of them?

Our team made a unique icon using plastic bottles to represent Kelaniya University. The symbolic icon is a “UOK” creative and environmentally friendly project is designed to increase awareness about recycling and sustainability. What started as a simple idea turned into something special, getting attention not only in the university but also throughout the country.

After months of hard work and dedication, our project accepted extraordinary recognition: the most popular project, the most sustainable project runner-up, the most effective and personal PR campaign, I was honored as the most prominent team leader. Recognition means more than just appreciation. They are proof of growth in my leadership, confidence, and creativity.

Then came the second year, and with that, another chapter: I was appointed as a co-directure of public relations as a role that I really appreciate. But let me tell you, it’s not always easy.

A fun facts? I received a call and message 24/7 yes, even in the middle of the night from the director and team leader who asked to share PR material. Still, I handle all the club’s social media voluntarily and with love, because I know how important it is.

This year, my co-Sutradara and I made history by starting the first original PR project set in Racuok. One of them, a tempting brain Rota, is about making content around special days and spreading awareness in a fun and meaningful way.

Others, influencencia, is one of the most significant and specific projects in my trip. It focuses on personal branding and the development of creative content, and it encourages me to explore new boundaries. Need to mention the strength of the girl behind this because all OC is done with girls into a hat from gurliess!

And yes, Rota tomorrow 5.0 comes. This time, I resigned from leading and stepping into the role of a mentor. I guided my team when they handled important problems with drug rehabilitation and mental health through the Parivarthana project. The leaders of my team who are talented Sithika and Pranama help me do our extraordinary team.

Now, with only a few days left in this chapter, I look back at everything without regret, just thank you. I want to mention Roshan Aiya and Akshana Akki, our former president and your secretary are my favorite as usual. I like to listen to the way you speak, and I am very grateful to have your leadership. Akki’s climb also supports what I have during this trip. It is necessary to mention the Vihanga Aiya and Adeesha Aiya with instructions and experiences supporting them, this year good luck. Oh, how can I forget my Kacha Kache Sachinthani, and one of my colleagues chamangi akki loves you a little more!

Grateful for his memory, grateful for his growth, grateful for the family I found at this club. And most importantly, thanking every mentor who guides me with kindness and wisdom. For me, Rotaract is not just a club. This is a journey of opportunity. The journey that helps shape who I am today and will always hold a special place in my life.
